MICHELLE HERMANTA - Senior Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor

BHSc, 2013; PGDip (Musculoskeletal), 2018; MPNZ

Special interest: Musculoskeletal injuries, especially spinal related injuries such as lower back and neck injuries; injury prevention and rehabilitation, and postural related overuse; TMJ and jaw pain; Clinical Pilates

While in her undergraduate studies at AUT, Michelle found her passion for helping people within a private practice setting. She later pursued and completed a post-graduate diploma in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in 2018.

Michelle has had the privilege to work alongside many high-level physiotherapists whose expertise and passion for helping chronic pain patients allowed her to understand and treat many complex conditions, whether they be mental, emotional, or physical difficulties.

These combined skills and experience allow her to provide her patients a holistic approach to treatment. She believes in treating the root cause, not just the symptoms, and especially enjoys her hands-on approach to managing pain and combining her Clinical Pilates knowledge to get her patients back to their full functional capacity and enjoying life. She considers it of the utmost importance to work in a collaborative manner with her patients, and to give them a thorough understanding of their condition in order to achieve long-term management and prevention of further injury. She finds that this collaboration also empowers patients to have control over their condition.

In her spare time, Michelle enjoys walking her puppy George, and playing badminton. She also tries to keep fit and healthy with exercise and going for regular runs, which help her keep up with her niece and nephew at the park and beach.
