Pilates and long distance running

Training for a marathon or half marathon? The benefits of cross training are well known for distance runners.  It's important to break up your running training with strengthening exercises you enjoy.  Strengthening your muscles (especially your core) and improving your flexibility will help to reduce your risk of injury during training and make running feel easier.

Pilates is a great way to cross train.. not only does it improve core strength and stability, it can also help to improve your breathing.  Better diaphragmatic breathing will make your running more efficient, and allow you to run further with more ease.
