Physiotherapist Tier:
If you're dealing with a first-time injury like an ankle, knee, or shoulder sprain, our physiotherapists can help. They can manage most injuries and, if your recovery isn't progressing as expected, we offer free second opinions with our senior staff to help you recover faster.
Senior Physiotherapist Tier:
Our senior physiotherapists can treat most injuries, including spinal issues and chronic pain. They have advanced training, such as post-graduate certifications, and are skilled at managing a wide range of conditions.
Masters Physiotherapist Tier:
For recurring injuries or persistent pain that hasn’t improved, our master's-trained physiotherapists are the experts to see. With over 17 years of experience and a Master's degree in Physiotherapy, they are highly skilled in handling tough cases.
Specialist Physiotherapist Tier:
We have two board-certified specialist physiotherapists who specialise in spinal injuries and pain management. They work with patients who haven't seen enough progress with previous treatment and need more specialised care. A referral is required to see our specialists.
No referral needed for rehab physio at Auckland Physiotherapy—you book directly for faster recovery, whether ACC-covered post-surgery or private chronic pain management. New Zealand physios are first-contact providers for most rehabilitation needs.
We coordinate with surgeons/GPs for post-op protocols and imaging reviews. Same-week appointments available at Newmarket/Parnell clinics.
Your first 45–60 minute rehab physio session at Auckland Physiotherapy includes injury/surgery history, baseline strength/movement testing, goal-setting, initial treatment, and custom home programme with video demos. We assess current function against your sport/work targets (running pace, lifting capacity, squat depth).
Treatment starts immediately: manual therapy for swelling/pain, gait retraining, or Phase 1 strengthening. Clear milestones provided for netball return, work release, or pain-free stairs.
Acute injuries need 4–8 sessions (4–6 weeks); post-surgery rehab averages 12–24 sessions (3–6 months); chronic conditions 8–16 sessions depending on consistency. Auckland Physiotherapy timelines match your goals—ACL return-to-sport (6–9 months), knee replacement independent walking (6–12 weeks).
Session 3 progress review ensures trajectory or plan adjustment. Early intervention = fewer total visits.
Recovery timelines vary by injury and rehab compliance: ankle sprains 6–8 weeks, ACL reconstruction 6–12 months, rotator cuff repair 4–6 months, knee replacement 3–6 months independent function. Auckland Physiotherapy uses phase-based rehab with objective testing (hop tests, strength symmetry >90%).
Key factors accelerating recovery:
Consistent home exercises (video-guided)
Progressive loading (no pain, no gain)
Nutrition/sleep optimisation
Early intervention (within 2 weeks)
