Loft Pilates is the boutique Pilates studio within Auckland Physiotherapy, Newmarket
Experience Pilates as it was meant to be — small classes, physiotherapist expertise, and programs tailored precisely to your body, your history, and your goals. Whether you're managing an injury, over 50 and wanting to stay strong, or simply done with being lost in a crowd, you belong here.
Is Loft Pilates right for you?
We're not a generic fitness studio. Loft Pilates is a boutique, clinically-informed space built for people who need more than a cookie-cutter class. Our clients come to us for a reason.
Guided by physiotherapists who understand pain and how to move around it safely. Evidence-based Pilates is one of the most effective long-term tools for back pain relief and recovery.
Our small classes attract like-minded people who actually talk to each other. Many of our clients have coffee together after class. Movement is better with people who get it.
Your body has a history — and it deserves expert attention. Our physio-led approach means every session is adapted to your joints, your strength, and your goals for positive ageing.
In a large reformer class of 20, you're invisible. At Loft Pilates, your instructor knows your name, your body, and exactly where you need support — every single session.
The Loft Pilates difference
Most Pilates studios are fitness businesses that have added a physio logo. We're the other way around — a specialist physiotherapy and health collective that runs Pilates the way it should be run.
"Experience specialised Pilates in a boutique, safe and nurturing environment,
where our expert physiotherapists and instructors deliver tailored, quality programs
that restore strength, balance, and confidence — with every session clinically guided
to support your body's changing needs and help you move well for life."

Our classes
Not sure where to start? Our free phone consultation matches you to the right class, instructor and pathway — no guesswork required.
Small Group · Up to 6 people
Group Reformer classes of up to 6 people, focused on building functional strength, improving tone, and correcting posture. All participants move through the same sequence — guided closely by your instructor.
Recommended: We advise a 1-1 private session before joining Reformer classes — unless you are pain-free and have prior Reformer experience.
Small Group · 4–5 people
Our Studio classes use the full range of Pilates equipment and are individually programmed — each person works through their own tailored plan at their own pace. Ideal for injuries, ongoing conditions, or those needing more personalisation.
Essential: A 1-1 private session is required before joining Studio classes. This ensures your individual program is set up correctly and you get the most from every session.
1-on-1 or Duet
The most personalised option — and the best way to start. Who you book with depends on where you're at:

Led by one of our qualified physiotherapists, Clinical Pilates begins with a full physiotherapy assessment before designing your individual exercise program. Proven for back pain, post-surgical recovery, chronic pain and neurological conditions. ACC and Southern Cross claims welcome.
We recommend starting with a 1-1 private session.
Before joining any group class, a private session with one of our instructors allows us to understand your body, your history, and your goals — so your first class feels confident, not overwhelming. For Studio classes, a 1-1 is essential and required prior to attending. Find out more about our private sessions →

Frequently asked questions
I have a bad back. Is Pilates safe for me?
Yes — and it's often one of the best things you can do. Clinical research consistently supports Pilates as an effective tool for reducing back pain and preventing recurrence. Because our classes are led by physiotherapists and expert instructors, your program is adapted specifically around your condition. We start carefully and progress at your pace.
What's the difference between Studio and Reformer classes?
Reformer classes have up to 6 people all doing the same exercises together on the Reformer machine — great for building general strength, tone and posture. Studio classes have 4–5 people, each working through their own individual program across all Pilates equipment — better suited for injury rehabilitation or those needing a more personalised approach. Not sure which? Read the full class descriptions here.
Can I use my ACC or Southern Cross for Pilates?
Yes — you may be eligible to use ACC and/or Southern Cross for Pilates completed with our physio-led instructors. The easiest way to check is to book a free phone consultation and we'll advise you.
I've never done Pilates before. Where do I start?
We recommend beginning with a free phone consultation, followed by a 45-minute private session with either a physio or instructor. This introduces you to the equipment and allows us to understand your body and goals before you join a group class. Our Starter Reformer Package is designed exactly for this.
I'm over 60. Are your classes appropriate for me?
Absolutely — in fact, many of our clients are in their 50s, 60s and 70s. Our physio-led approach means every program is adapted to where you are today. We focus on strength, balance, bone density and the function that keeps you independent and active as you age. Many of our clients feel better in their bodies now than they did a decade ago.
