ASITA FOTOURI - Pilates Instructor

From a young age, Asita had a keen interest in movement, biology, anatomy and anything related to the body and mind. This fascination lead her to a concentration in sport and rehabilitation. Beginning with a Sports and Fitness Management degree and gym trainer qualifications in 2001, she then obtained her Master's degree in Sport Science from the University of Hamburg, Germany in 2010. A major part of her degree was rehabilitation and injury prevention and she was able to deepen her knowledge while working within a rehabilitation clinic, gaining more practical hands-on experience in treating injuries and chronic disease with movement therapy. While at Uni and throughout the last 15 years, she has also been working as a Personal Trainer.

After moving to New Zealand and working within a Pilates and Dance studio, she discovered Pilates was the perfect practice to combine her knowledge of rehabilitation, injury prevention and athletic performance, to increase her clients'strength, flexibility, mobility and wellbeing. In 2017, she started with the Principles of Pilates Mat qualification and added a Pre and Post natal certificate before she decided to become a Comprehensive BASI (Body Arts and Sciences International) Pilates instructor in 2018.

Asita loves seeing the many ways her clients benefit from Pilates and finds it very rewarding that she can be part of their journey to live a better life by creating the body and mind awareness through movement that focuses on correct alignment, strength, and flexibility.
