POSTURAL ACHES AND PAINS

ERGONOMICS, POSTURAL PAIN AND WORK-RELATED INJURIES

In the modern day many of us have jobs which involve us sitting behind desks for many hours a day. It turns out the act if sitting may not be very good for us. Sedentary lifestyles and spending too much time behind a desk have been linked with musculoskeletal pain such as low back pain, neck and shoulder pain. They have also been associated with significant general health comorbidities such as obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It appears that even keeping active outside of work hours may not be enough to reduce the negative effects of long periods of sitting. For more information see our blog on "is sitting the new smoking?".

If you’re going to sit there may be some changes you could make to your ergonomics to optimise your position. Take a look at this short ergonomics video to find out how.
