Sugar-Free Chocolate Protein Slice

August 27, 2018 at 10:39 AM

As a nutritionist and ex-dieter, I believe indulgences are so important when it comes to a healthy relationship with food.

This slice is the perfect morning or afternoon tea pick-me-up, suitable even for those of you on a weight loss journey. Unlike a lot of "healthy slices" out there which use a lot of dates, this one is low in fructose and high in protein and healthy fats to stabilise your sugar levels in the afternoon, prevent the 4 pm snack attack, and prevent overeating at dinner time.

Cacao power itself is rich in antioxidants, magnesium, potassium and zinc. So please enjoy this slice as an everyday indulgence, 100% guilt free :)

 ½ cup almonds

2 heaped tbs peanut butter

2 scoops protein powder

1 tbsp liquid honey (or another sweetener of your choice - 1 tsp stevia, 1 tbs  brown rice syrup or maple syrup)

3 tbsp Cocoa or cacao powder

2-3 tbsp melted coconut oil

3 tbsp coconut oil (melted)

3 tbs cocoa powder, 1 tbs honey (or another sweetener of your choice)

1. Add almonds to the food processor and blitz until finely ground.

2. Add peanut butter, protein, honey, cocoa powder and melted coconut oil and blitz again. (If it’s still crumbly, add a little more melted coconut oil).

3. Pour into a container and press down to form the base.

4. Pour over the topping, a sprinkle of granola, and set in the freezer.
